City Slip vs Admit Card — Know the Difference

Many students confuse the two documents. Here’s the clear distinction:

The CUET UG City Intimation Slip is an advance information document that only informs candidates about the city where their examination centre will be located. It helps students plan their travel and arrangements in advance but cannot be used to enter the exam hall. The CUET UG Admit Card, on the other hand, is the mandatory document required for entry into the examination centre. It contains complete details such as the exact exam centre address, date, shift, and reporting time. Without the admit card, candidates will not be allowed to appear for the exam. • City Slip (released now): Shows your exam city only — use this to book travel and accommodation
  • Admit Card (coming soon): Shows your exact exam centre, date, shift, roll number — mandatory for entry

When Will the CUET UG 2026 Admit Card Be Released?

The CUET UG Admit Card 2026 is expected to be released 2 to 3 days before the exam date. As per current expectations, NTA may issue the hall ticket by May 08, 2026. Keep checking cuet.nta.nic.in daily from May 5 onwards to avoid missing the admit card window. Top10Sense

CUET UG 2026 Exam Schedule

The National Testing Agency will conduct the CUET UG exam 2026 from May 11 to 31, 2026 in CBT mode. The exam will be held in multiple shifts covering 13 languages, 23 domain subjects, and the General Test across centres in India and 15 cities abroad. Inc42 Media

Your specific exam date and shift will be visible on the city slip. If you have registered for multiple subjects, check carefully — many candidates have reported that 2 or more CUET subjects have been allotted the same shift timings and date. Candidates experiencing this should immediately contact the NTA helpdesk. Top10Sense

Updated CUET UG 2026 Exam Pattern — Key Changes

NTA has introduced significant changes to the 2026 exam pattern. The number of subjects has been reduced from 63 to 37. There are now no optional questions — all 50 questions per subject are compulsory. Each subject paper is exactly 60 minutes long. The marking scheme awards +5 marks for each correct answer and deducts 1 mark for each incorrect answer. This is a significant change from previous years where optional questions existed. Aspirants must now prepare to attempt all questions in each subject — strategic omission of questions is no longer possible in the traditional sense. However, with 5 marks for each correct answer, every right answer carries substantial weight. shiksha

What the City Slip Tells You — and What You Must Do Next

Once you have downloaded your city slip, use the information proactively:

  • Check your exam city — is it your home city or elsewhere?
  • Book travel and accommodation early — May exam season sees surge pricing on trains and hotels
  • Identify the distance — know how long it will take to reach the city and plan accordingly
  • Continue revision — your subject-wise exam date is visible on the slip, so plan your revision calendar accordingly
  • Track the official website for your admit card (expected around May 8, 2026)

A Quick Revision Strategy for the Final 10 Days

With exams starting May 11, you have just under two weeks. Here’s how to use the time effectively:

For Domain Subjects — the syllabus is based on NCERT Class 12 curriculum. Focus entirely on NCERT chapters. Do not attempt to read reference books at this stage. Revise chapter summaries, key concepts, and important definitions daily.

For the General Test — the General Aptitude Test assesses general knowledge, current affairs, mental ability, numerical ability covering basic arithmetic, algebra, geometry and statistics, along with logical and analytical reasoning. Practice 20–30 questions daily from each of these sections. Inc42 Media

For Language Tests — practice reading comprehension at speed. Focus on literary aptitude and vocabulary questions from previous year papers.

CUET UG 2026 is your pathway to admissions at central universities, including Delhi University, JNU, Jamia, BHU, and over 200 other participating institutions. Treat the next two weeks with the same seriousness you gave to your board exams.
