Exam Timings and Gate Schedule — Don’t Be Late

Gate timings you must know:

Candidates arriving after the gate closing time will not be permitted to enter the centre under any circumstances. Plan your commute to arrive by 12:30 PM at the absolute latest. Traffic delays, auto/cab issues, and gate verification queues all take time.
What to Carry — Mandatory Documents
- Printed NEET UG 2026 Admit Card (hard copy only — digital not accepted)
- Self-declaration form/undertaking (printed — check admit card for format)
- Original valid photo ID (Aadhaar preferred; also PAN, Voter ID, Passport)
- Two passport-size photographs
- Two postcard-size photographs
Keep these ready in a clear folder the night before. Do not wait until morning.
What NOT to Carry — Strictly Prohibited
Students must strictly avoid carrying stationery, mobile phones, communication devices, Bluetooth gadgets, smartwatches, calculators, other electronic items, and any written or printed material.
Watches are not allowed in the NEET exam hall. To keep track of time, candidates should use the wall clock in the examination centre.
Additionally, food items and personal water bottles are not allowed inside the exam hall. Only diabetic candidates with a doctor’s prescription can carry a transparent water bottle along with approved food items like sugar tablets or fruits.
Carrying any prohibited item — even unintentionally — can lead to cancellation of your candidature. Leave your phone, watch, and water bottle with your parent or in your vehicle.
Dress Code for Today
Female candidates should wear light-coloured, half-sleeved kurta or top, with trousers, salwar, or leggings. No jewellery — earrings, nose pins, rings, bangles, or necklaces — metallic hairpins, high heels, or shoes are allowed.
Male candidates should also wear light-coloured half-sleeved clothing. Avoid shoes with thick soles. Sandals or slippers are acceptable and make the frisking process faster.
Exam Pattern — Revised for 2026
The paper consists of 180 multiple-choice questions for a total of 720 marks covering Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology. The marking scheme is +4 for each correct answer and -1 for each incorrect answer.
Section-wise breakdown:
- Physics: 45 questions — 180 marks
- Chemistry: 45 questions — 180 marks
- Botany: 45 questions — 180 marks
- Zoology: 45 questions — 180 marks
For the first time in 2026, NEET UG covers BSc Nursing, BPT (Physiotherapy), and BOT (Occupational Therapy) courses across India in addition to MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH programs. This means the stakes for this exam are higher than ever before — the score now opens doors to more medical programmes than in previous years.
Important NTA Advisory — Fake Paper Leak Claims
NTA has issued a fresh advisory warning candidates against fake messages on social media claiming a NEET 2026 paper leak. The agency has confirmed that all such claims are false and that candidates must rely only on official communication from neet.nta.nic.in. The National Medical Commission has also directed medical colleges across India not to grant leave to students on May 3 to prevent any malpractice attempts.
Do not engage with any suspicious messages, WhatsApp forwards, or Telegram links claiming to carry NEET 2026 answers or solutions. These are fraudulent and could distract you on exam day.
After the Exam — What Happens Next?
The NEET UG 2026 Provisional Answer Key is expected to be released by NTA within 7–10 days of the exam, along with the recorded responses (OMR sheet). Candidates will get a window to challenge the answer key with a non-refundable fee of ₹200 per question. The Final Answer Key and NEET UG 2026 Result are expected in the second or third week of June 2026.
Use this formula to calculate your estimated NEET score after the exam:
NEET 2026 Estimated Score = (Correct Answers × 4) − (Incorrect Answers × 1)
Once you know your estimated score, use the NEET rank predictor tools available on platforms like NTA, Careers360, and Embibe to estimate your All India Rank and eligible colleges.
Last-Minute Tips for Students Heading to the Centre Right Now
10 minutes before you leave home: ✅ Check your admit card and photo ID one last time ✅ Eat a light, filling meal — don’t go on an empty stomach, but avoid heavy food ✅ Leave your phone and watch behind or hand them to a parent/guardian ✅ Take a deep breath — you’ve done the preparation. Today is just the performance.
Inside the exam hall:
- Read each question fully before answering — Biology particularly has questions where careful reading matters
- Attempt Chemistry and Biology first if you’re more confident there — Physics can be left for later
- Do not get stuck on a difficult question — mark it, move on, come back at the end
- Keep an eye on the wall clock — aim to complete 120 questions in the first 90 minutes, leaving 45 minutes for review
You’ve prepared for this. Walk in with confidence, stay calm, and give it everything you’ve got.
